King wood

King wood - lat. Dalbergia cearensis
Very expensive, decorative wood. I use royal wood from Brazil. It also grows in Jamaica, Madagascar, Mexico, etc. Due to its purple hue, it is called "Bios de violete" in France - violet wood. The hardness according to JANKA is 3340 lbf, which makes it excellent for machining. One cubic meter can weigh up to 1.1 tons, it does not float in water. The "cross cut" version can be brittle when turning and I have had the ground separate at the ring location (especially when doweling), so I only use wood cut along the rings and not perpendicular to it.
Very effective wood that can be polished very well
